How I spent my last several days in La Paz, Baja Sur

The southernmost tip of Baja California

   During the winter of 1995-1996 I spent the winter aboard the Sea Bird and Sea Lion in the Sea of Cortez. We were based in La Paz, and we did seven day trips to several deserted islands and to the Pacific side to see the calving grey whales in Bahia Magdalena. The work days were long, but there were long midday breaks on deserted beaches, sunset salmon barbeques in the sand, nights in La Paz and Cabo, swimming with seals, and endless snorkeling. Not a bad way to earn a living!
